2021 NEXUS LAB
In April 2021, Dance Lab New York welcomed backChoreographer Jeremy McQueen for a special two-week Nexus Lab to incubate the third section of his cutting-edge contemporary ballet, WILD, inspired by Maurice Sendak’s classic "Where the Wild Things Are" and the real accounts of New York City youth who have grown up in the juvenile justice system. Released in four seasonal segments, WILD documents and amplifies the voices of several young men and women of color as they struggle to break free from systemic injustices that permeate their communities. This ambitious project is led by a creative team of primarily Black artists and features original music, composed by distinct millennial voices.
