Empowering The Future

The NextGen Apprenticeship is designed to help young choreographers, 18 and under, unleash their creative potential by providing them with customized choreography curriculum, a Lab residency, and mentorship from professionals in the field.

This semester-long apprenticeship includes weekly one-on-one sessions with our resident mentor, esteemed choreographer and arts educator William Carlos Angulo, in which apprentices develop an individualized choreography methodology.

The sessions culminate in a six week-long Lab with a professional youth dance company hired by Dance Lab New York.

Our residencies provide dancemakers with:

• a salary
• a company of professional dancers
• expansive studio space
• a rehearsal director
• artist-led administrative support
• headshots, dance stills, and video assets
• masterclasses with DLNY Alumni
• zero pressure to produce a finished product
