Khadijah Siferllah is a National YoungArts Award recipient and Emmy-nominated dancer, educator, and choreographer rooted in the Twin Cities, MN and based in Brooklyn, NY. Internationally known as one half of the duo Al Taw’am with her twin sister Umi IMAN, Khadijah’s work is deeply informed by her identity as a Black, Caribbean, and Tsalagi-Native woman, as well as her experience navigating the dance world as a visibly hijabi Muslim. She stands proudly as a cultural bearer and innovator, merging traditions.
Her movement practice blends House and traditional West African dance. She is passionate about exploring the overlaps between these genres to celebrate the rich cultural intersections of the African Diaspora. Her work centers community, heritage, and access, especially for those navigating systemic barriers.
Her work has been featured on NBC’s World of Dance, the Lincoln Center, The Guggenheim, Jacob’s Pillow, and global spaces like Each One Teach ONE in Berlin. She’s also served as a guest lecturer at Harvard, Yale, and Spelman College. Most recently, she launched her company DiaSole Dance, dedicated to preserving and innovating the sacred connections between Black American and African diasporic dance forms.
