Lauren Lovette

Choreographer, Spring 2019 // Connect Mentor, Fall 2023

Lauren Lovette is the first Resident Choreographer in the history of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Her first work for Taylor, Pentimento, premiered last March at New York City Center. As a principal dancer at New York City Ballet, Lovette was invited to choreograph for the 2016 Fall Fashion Gala. In 2018, NYU’s Center for Ballet and the Arts awarded her the Virginia B. Toulmin Fellowship for Women Leaders in Dance. A year later, Lovette created a second work for the City Ballet Fashion Gala. Since then, her work has been commissioned and performed by American Ballet Theatre, Vail International Dance Festival, American Ballet Theatre Studio Company, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Oregon Ballet Theater, and showcased in a self-produced evening, Why It Matters. Lovette received the Clive Barnes Award for dance in December 2012 and was the 2012-13 recipient of City Ballet’s Janice Levin Award. In 2021, she stepped down from her principal position in order to embark on a career devoted in more equal measure to dance and choreography.
