Maia Schechter grew up in Glen Rock, PA, where she began dancing at the age of 3. She continued her studies at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where she was awarded the Linehan Artist Scholarship. She then relocated to New York City and danced with Peridance Dance Contemporary Dance Company. She has performed the works of Roderick George, Jae Man Joo, Bill T. Jones, Marguerite Donlon, and Milton Myers. Other studies include The Contemporary School at Jacob’s Pillow, B12 Festival, and The Gaga Intensive in Tel Aviv. Currently Maia is residing in Brooklyn, NY, working as a freelance dancer, and is represented by Clear Talent Group. This is her third season with Dance Lab New York.
