Are you a choreographer who has been commissioned by a not-for-profit arts organization and need incubative time prior to the start of rehearsals? This is the Lab for you!
Too often independent choreographers find themselves facing a familiar challenge after receiving a commission: while they’re expected to deliver ambitious, groundbreaking works, the project fees rarely cover the true costs of creation. Access to rehearsal space, artistic support, and production resources can be prohibitively expensive, leaving artists to piece together their process with limited means. Recognizing this systemic gap, DLNY once again has created a game-changing solution—a new program that directly supports choreographers in the crucial development phase of their commissioned work.
The Production Prep Lab was created to provide support to commissioned choreographers in the not-for-profit space. Selected artists receive a stipend, a rehearsal director hired by DLNY, and 20 hours of time in our studios to prepare for confirmed non-profit commissions.
