DLNY NextGen is designed to help young choreographers, 18 and under, unleash their creative potential by providing them with robust guidance from professionals in the field.

Our NextGen choreographers will work in #thelab over the next month to develop a confident approach to dancemaking, effective management skills, an ability to motivate and collaborate with a team, and a practical understanding of how to navigate professional spaces — all under the guidance of our Resident Mentor and Director of Education, William Carlos Angulo with a professional youth dance company!

GIADA LEIGH

Hi, I’m Giada! I’m 17 and from NY. I’m so excited to be working with Dance Lab this cycle as a next gen choreographer. I’ve always been so fascinated with creating movement on others and never had an opportunity til now. I’ve grown up my whole life dancing and when I was 12 started to train professionally. I’m apart of Koin & Co on their Pro track as well as SoleTalk Tap Co. I’m signed with my dream agency MSA. I just recently worked with Ben Platt & Noah Galvin in their new upcoming movie called “Theater Camp”

MALACHI KINGSTON

Malachi Kingston is 17 years old and a senior in high school. He is a Dancer, Choreographer, Photographer and so many more things. Malachi is so passionate about dance and really goes above and beyond for what he loves to do. Malachi is part of a youth company called FlightPath Dance Project and receives training there as well.

JULIA AGUINALDO

Born and raised in NYC, Julia Aguinaldo is a 17-year-old dancer who currently trains in modern-contemporary and ballet at LaGuardia High School. She grew up in the competitive dance scene at her local studio in Queens, performing in styles from Tap to Jazz. She is excited to join DLNY's Next Gen Spring 2023 as a seasoned company dancer, and is looking forward to show her talent and hard work in the amazing choreographers' pieces!

TATIANA CAJINA

My name is Tatiana Cajina. I started dancing at the age of 3 years in New Jersey and New York. I’m 17 years old and my dance studio is Kozmic Edge in Guttenberg, NJ since 2010. I also attended school at Broadway Dance Center (Children Teen Program) since 2016. I learned to dance in ballet, jazz, contemporary, Latin jazz, flamenco and Hip Hop. My favorite techniques is Hip Hop since I was 5 years old. I have the passion inside me that one day I’ll be dancing in LA.

JULIANA CIRELLI

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where I attended a local dance studio and found my passion for dance at just two years old. From there on, I attended specialized schools for dance, just recently graduating from LaGuardia High School. Upon graduation I was signed with Clear Talent Group and have been chasing my dreams ever since.

JAIMAN CAIRO DESORMEAUX-WILLIAMS

My name is Jaiman Cairo Desormeaux-Williams, and I’m 17 years old. I’m a dancer at LaGuardia High School. I love dancing, eating, and editing videos. Another hobby I love is legos.

MADISEN EDWARDS

Hi my name is Madisen Edwards also known as Madi. I’m from Queens, New York and I’m 16 years old. I’ve been dancing for 13 years training in dance styles such as Contemporary, Ballet, Modern, Hip-Hop, Improvisation and Jazz. I am currently the assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets Kids dance team and currently a Young Professional at MOVE |NYC|.

ISABELLA IANNELLI

Isabella Iannelli is an Emmy-nominated 13 yr. old performing artist with over nine years of experience in dancing, singing and acting. She is best known for her role as a Young Gloria in the MUNY production of On Your Feet and as a featured dancer in the 2021 Film adaptation of In The Heights. Isabella made her Broadway Debut as Vivi in The Rose Tattoo (2019) opposite Marisa Tomei, Emmy-nominated variety special; John Mulaney and The Sack Lunch Bunch on Netflix (2019) aThe Global HER project Short Film (2019), WE day at the Barclay Center (2019) Kids Footlocker Nike & Champion Commercials (2019), Billboard Hot 100 (2018), US Open Radio Disney Stage (2017) and more. My name is Dominic Morse I am 16 and have a burning passion for dance. I can’t wait to be dancing in the NextGen lab.

ALICIA STEEPLE

My name is Alicia Steeple, and I started dancing at the age of 5. My training consisted of African, tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, etc. I am currently a sophomore at Brooklyn High School of the Arts where I major in dance.

KAYLA SCHUTZ, REHEARSAL DIRECTOR

Kayla Schutz grew up in Orlando Florida where she trained in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and acrobatics at University Performing Arts Centre since the age of four. In 2014 Kayla was selected to be a member of the Tremaine Performance Program where she traveled throughout the U.S. to assist with their master classes, work backstage as well as perform in their faculty shows. Kayla graduated in 2020 from The Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. During her time at Juilliard she had the opportunity to work with John Higgenbotham, Gentian Doda, Peter Chu and Stephen Petronio in new works created on her class. She has also performed repertoire pieces by Jose Limon, Twyla Tharp, Martha Graham and Paul Taylor. Kayla also had the opportunity to be apart of Oklahoma! Off broadway as an ensemble dancer during her third year at Juilliard. She also teaches ballet, jazz and improv classes at the dance studio she grew up at as well as manages the studios social media accounts.

WILLIAM CARLOS ANGULO, DLNY DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

William Carlos Angulo is a choreographer, director, playwright, and arts educator based in New York. As an industry professional, he creates new musicals both regionally and commercially. Upcoming projects include MAY WE ALL national tour premiering in Nashville, HOMBRES at Portland Center Stage, and SHOUT SISTER SHOUT on Broadway. William co-founded the musical theater training program at Goodman Theater and was an original instructor for Broadway Across Borders. With a focus on social dance, his work and research centers community building through the process of creating art and live performance. He has taught dance and community devising at institutions such as Northwestern University, Indiana University - Bloomington, The Juilliard School, The Chicago Academy for The Arts, and The Arts Academy of Banja Luka through the US Department of Stateʼs Fulbright Program. William is a member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, the Alliance of Latinx Theatre Artists, and Actorsʼ Equity Association.
